Job summary

Grandsettlement is seeking a Part-Time Custodian in New York, NY for the Older Adults Services BEST/NORC program on the Lower East Side. The role offers 25 hours weekly, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm, with some weekend work, starting October 2026.

Responsibilities include building upkeep, kitchen and office maintenance, floor care, snow shoveling, deliveries inspection, and coordinating with NYCHA. HS diploma or GED required, custodial experience preferred, ability to lift 25 lbs, and strong

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Custodial/maintenance experience preferred.
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Strong communication with staff and participants.
• Bilingual Spanish and/or Chinese preferred but not required.
• Work independently and proactively address maintenance needs.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality; flexible for schedule needs.
• Certificate of Fitness for Fire Alarm Supervision (S-95).

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and daily upkeep of the program site.
• Maintain kitchen, offices, equipment, and outdoor areas; shovel snow in winter.
• Sweep, mop, and perform floor care tasks on schedule.
• Transport materials and inspect deliveries for the BEST Program.
• Monitor temperatures and fire alarm system status daily.
• Liaise with NYCHA for maintenance requests and ticket tracking.
• Assist with setup/breakdown for events and food pantry activities.
• Provide maintenance support for weekend events as needed.
• Be available during and after hours for emergencies.
