Grandsettlement is seeking a Part-Time Custodian in New York, NY for the Older Adults Services BEST/NORC program on the Lower East Side. The role offers 25 hours weekly, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm, with some weekend work, starting October 2026.

Responsabilidades

• Perform general maintenance and daily upkeep of the program site.
• Maintain kitchen, offices, equipment, and outdoor areas; shovel snow in winter.
• Sweep, mop, and perform floor care tasks on schedule.
• Transport materials and inspect deliveries for the BEST Program.
• Monitor temperatures and fire alarm system status daily.
• Liaise with NYCHA for maintenance requests and ticket tracking.
• Assist with setup/breakdown for events and food pantry activities.
• Provide maintenance support for weekend events as needed.
• Be available during and after hours for emergencies.

SALARY:$20 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:Maintenance of areas used by the BEST Program (i.e. offices, activity rooms, reception, rest rooms, hallways, kitchen and kitchen equipment, pantry, backyard/ garden and garbage disposal areas).

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Previous custodial and/or maintenance experience
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 25lbs
• Strong communication skills with staff and program participants
• Bilingual in Spanish and/or Chinese preferred, but not required
• Ability to work independently and proactively address maintenance needs
• Reliable attendance and punctuality, with flexibility to meet program scheduling needs
• Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems (S‑95)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform general maintenance and daily upkeep of the entire program site
• Maintain the kitchen, activity rooms, office equipment, and backyard; shovel snow during winter months
• Sweep and mop floors daily
• Sweep, buff, strip, and wax program floors quarterly
• Transport materials to designated recycling areas
• Receive and inspect food and supply deliveries for the BEST Program as needed
• Store food and supply deliveries, ensuring no damaged or spoiled goods
• Monitor and log refrigerator and freezer temperatures dailyMonitor and log fire alarm system status daily
• Maintain and clean program equipment
• Serve as liaison with NYCHA regarding maintenance requests, repairs, and ticket tracking
• Assist with setup and breakdown for special events
• Assist with food pantry packaging and support Older Adult Services as needed
• Assist with food pantry delivery to homebound participants and conduct facility home visits if needed
• Provide maintenance support for weekend events as required
• Remain available during work hours and after hours for emergency situations (e.g., leaks, flooding, fire)
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director
