Job summary

Grand St Settlement Inc. in New York, NY, is seeking a Custodian Helper for the Delancey Family & Childcare Center. Under the Site Director, you will maintain clean, safe premises and perform daily site checks.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 2pm–6pm (20 hours/week) with the salary of $18,095.48 annually, benefits included per the union contract. Duties include sweeping, mopping, repairs, inventory, and health-safety recordkeeping.

Qualifications

• Previous related experiences in general janitorial duties.
• Ability to read and write to follow written work schedules and keep inventory.
• Friendly and cheerful personality for cooperation with staff, families and children.
• Must pass health and safety requirements and pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning: sweep, mop, wax floors; clean restrooms and all spaces; manage waste and cleaning of walls and fixtures.
• Records and supplies: maintain infection control logs, safety logs, inventory of sanitary supplies; assist in repairs and moving heavy items.
• Daily health and safety: repair hazardous conditions, replace lighting, coordinate with maintenance organizations as needed.
