Job summary

Streck, a Nebraska-based manufacturing company, seeks a dependable cleaner to maintain a sterile laboratory environment. You will perform routine cleaning of floors, sinks, restrooms, and surfaces, following established schedules and safety procedures.

Ability to operate cleaning equipment and read SDS is required. Preferred candidates have 1–2 years of experience in commercial facility cleaning, good organizational skills, and clear communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; not required.
• 1–2 years’ experience cleaning commercial facilities preferred.
• Must be dependable, well organized, and able to communicate effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Remove and replace liners from trash receptacles and haul trash to designated bin.
• Mop floors with dust mop and wet mop using appropriate disinfectant.
• Dust woodwork, desks, chairs, and shelves; clean sinks and restrooms.

Summary Of Responsibilities

This position is responsible for properly and safely cleaning the facility as established in the cleaning schedule and procedures, and for maintaining high quality of cleaning. Also, responsible for performing other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Essential Duties And Functions

• Remove and replace plastic liners from trash receptacles and take trash to designated trash bin
• Mop floors with dust mop
• Mop floors and warehouse with wet mop using appropriate disinfectant
• Dust all woodwork, office furniture (desks, chairs, and tables), file cabinets, counter tops and shelves
• Vacuum floors and carpets with vacuum cleaner
• Sweep out warehouse with broom
• Clean all sinks with approved disinfectant
• Clean all rest rooms with approved cleaners
• Scrub laboratory floors with appropriate disinfectant
• Buff floors with appropriate cleaning equipment
• Communicate all information pertinent to cleaning procedures, equipment, cleaning solutions, problems, or personnel issues to the Environmental Services Supervisor

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred; not required
• One to two years’ experience cleaning commercial facilities preferred
• Must be dependable, well organized, and be able to communicate effectively and efficiently

Technical Competencies

• Computer proficient for email, document training, reviews, and time clock
• Knowledge of and ability to operate various housekeeping machines and equipment
• Knowledge of and ability to use all cleaning chemicals in a proper and safe manner
• Ability to visually measure and mix cleaning chemicals
• Ability to visually inspect work to ensure cleanliness
• Ability to read, understand and comply with all safety procedures, and company policies and procedures
• Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the Employee-Right-To-Know Program
• Ability to wear required laboratory clean room clothing (shoe covers) and other safety/protective equipment (mask and/or face shield, rubber gloves) for extended periods of time

Work Environment/Travel Demands

The work environment is a climate-controlled biological/chemical laboratory. Occasional short durations to cold temperatures inside walk-in coolers. Ability to wear required laboratory clean room clothing (laboratory coats, hair bonnets, and beard covers (as applicable) and other safety/protective equipment (masks, gloves, and/or face shields for example) for up to two and a half hours consecutively. Travel demands for this position are estimated up to 0%. If travel is required, this travel may include customer visits, events/trade shows, and completion of presentations primarily throughout Domestic US or International regions. Employees must comply with all travel recommendations regarding “safe travel” according to company policies and guidelines, and all federal, state, local, and international orders.

Physical/Mental Demands

Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This also includes standing for up to two and a half hours consecutively, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, stooping, fingering, and grasping. Expressing and receiving detailed information through written and oral communication. Also has an ability to make sound, appropriate, and prompt decisions within the guidelines of the role.
