Job summary

Responsibilities

• Mop floors, vacuum, strip, wax and buff floors; operate power-cleaning equipment and cleaners; mix cleaning agents as directed.
• Vacuum, spot-clean and shampoo carpets; dust and polish furniture, counters, woodwork and metalwork.
• Clean and wash windows, walls, and windowsills.
• Clean restrooms and replenish supplies.
• Move and arrange furniture and equipment as required.
• Perform basic maintenance repairs on buildings.
• Order and maintain inventory of custodial supplies as directed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Details: Job Location: Development Services - Villa Rica, GA 30180, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $15.91 - $20.69 Hourly, Job Summary: This position is responsible for the general maintenance and cleaning of City facilities. Duties include the routine and regular cleaning sanitizing, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming of floors; and making minor equipment and facility repairs.

Major Duties

• Collect and dispose of garbage on a daily basis.
• Mop floors (wet and dry); vacuum, strip, wax and buff floors; operate power-cleaning equipment, mechanical cleaners and polishers and mix cleaning agents as directed;
• Vacuum, spot-clean and shampoo carpets; dust, wax, wash and polish furniture, counters, woodwork and metalwork;
• Clean and wash windows, walls, windowsills and screens;
• Clean restrooms and replenish supplies;
• Move and arrange furniture and equipment as required;
• Perform basic maintenance repairs on building;
• Order and maintain inventory of custodial supplies as directed;
• Perform other related duties as required.

• Ability to exert continuous physical effort including frequent bending, walking, manipulating and heavy lifting of equipment.

Supervisory Controls: Department Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility: None.

Guidelines: Guidelines include city codes, building codes, city personnel regulations and established practices. These guidelines are clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.

Complexity: The work consists of a variety of building and facility maintenance duties.

Scope and Effect: Independently performs work of a recurring and regular nature in accordance with established and well-known policies, procedures and practices. Progress of work is checked and instruction is provided on accomplishing work involving unusual problems or the use of unfamiliar equipment.

Personal Contacts: Contacts are typically with co-workers and city employees.

Purpose of Contacts: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.

Physical Demands: The employee frequently lifts light objects and uses tools or equipment requiring dexterity.

Work Environment: Work is performed primarily indoors using cleaning chemicals that may be potentially hazardous and requires moderate physical effort in using equipment and moving furniture and other heavy items. May perform grounds maintenance work as directed. Utilizes any of the equipment authorized and available to accomplish the work.
