Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and equipment used in custodial work such as brooms, mops, vacuums, and wax applicators.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
• Ability to work independently in maintaining a clean and orderly area after training.
• Ability to exert continuous physical effort including frequent bending, walking, lifting of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of garbage on a daily basis.
• Mop floors, vacuum, strip, wax and buff floors; operate power-cleaning equipment and cleaners; mix cleaning agents as directed.
• Vacuum, spot-clean and shampoo carpets; dust and polish furniture, counters, woodwork and metalwork.
• Clean and wash windows, walls, and windowsills.
• Clean restrooms and replenish supplies.
• Move and arrange furniture and equipment as required.
• Perform basic maintenance repairs on buildings.
• Order and maintain inventory of custodial supplies as directed.
• Perform other related duties as required.
