Job summary

Firelands Scientific in Huron, OH is seeking a Culinary Technician to produce edibles from tested recipes, manage prep, cooking, sanitation, inventory and packaging.

You will maintain kitchen equipment, follow GMP/HACCP, assist R&D with new products, and ensure accurate labeling and METRC transactions.

Candidates should have an Associate degree in culinary arts, recipe-writing ability, Serve Safe is a plus, and must be 21 or older with ability to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in culinary arts preferred with pastry or confections focus.
• Able to create recipes from scratch and understand how processes and ingredients interact.
• Previous culinary and kitchen experience required.
• Serve Safe certification preferred.
• Proficient math and measuring skills with high attention to detail.
• 21+ years old and able to pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain it.
• Prepare edibles following recipes, sanitation practices and timelines.
• Maintain kitchen sanitation and organization.
• Update production schedule and reconcile with plan.
• Ensure GMP, HACCP and QA compliance in culinary areas.
• Assist R&D with new products and process optimization.
• Prepare ingredients, workstations and equipment for production.
• Label properly and manage METRC transactions as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

Summary:

The Culinary Technician performs all the tasks necessary to produce delicious edibles from various recipes including preparation, cooking, sanitation, inventory and packaging.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understanding and knowledge of how to properly use and maintain all equipment in the kitchen.
• Prepares edibles in a sanitary and timely manner.
• Cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen.
• Update monthly production schedule with daily reconciliation against plan and review.
• Adherence to all GMP, HACCP and Quality Assurance protocols within culinary areas.
• Assist R&D with the development of new products, recipes and optimization of the production process prior to launch.
• Accurately prepare ingredients, workstations and equipment for production.
• Prepare proper dosages by batch and communicate to the team effectively.
• Ensure 100% compliance through proper labeling and METRC transactions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Relevant Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Associates Degree in culinary arts preferred which a focus in pastry or confections preferred.
• Able to create recipes from scratch with a knowledge of how processes and ingredients can impact each other.
• Previous Culinary & Kitchens experience required
• Serve Safe certification preferred.
• Proficient math and measuring skills.
• Ability to work as a team member, be organized and have extreme attention to detail.
• Passionate about the importance of cannabis.
• Capabilities with computer systems, software, and hardware common to kitchen operations and production environment as well as recordkeeping procedures.
• Effective time-management and ability to multi-task.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and requests.
• At least 21 years of age or older
• Follow all DCC safety, legal, quality, process control policies and regulations.
• Must be able to pass a background check

Physical Requirements:

• Long periods of prolonged standing and sitting
• Ability to observe and assess material that deviates from established company standards
• Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to perform manual labor tasks
• Must be capable of performing repetitive tasks for an extended period of time
• Some crouching or holding uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time
• Required to routinely lift 50+ pounds.
• Standing for long periods of time.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Sanitary manufacturing/warehousing environment.
• Occ asional exposure to automation and equipment noise within OSHA-regulated levels.
• Constant interaction with internal and external stakeholders
