Job summary

The Culinary Institute of Charleston is seeking a Part-Time Relish Café Teaching Assistant to support student learning and daily café operations. This position provides hands‑on instruction and guidance to students while assisting with the operation of the Relish Café, including customer service, point-of-sale transactions, product handling, and inventory support.

Qualifications

• Experience in café or service-related operations.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Current students and graduates of the Culinary Institute of Charleston, or those who completed a dining room class in another program, encouraged to apply.
• Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operating a fully functioning instructional café.
• Train and mentor students in café service and customer service practices.
• Operate and assist students with POS systems.
• Support bakeshop product packaging, pricing, storage, and distribution.
• Provide constructive feedback to promote student learning and success.
• Maintain a welcoming environment for guests, students, faculty, and staff.
• Help maintain food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
• Collaborate with faculty and department leadership to support quality and continuous improvement.
• Assist with inventory receiving and storage activities as needed.
• Perform other related duties in support of departmental operations.
