Job summary

Boys Town seeks a Crisis Counselor to provide frontline support by phone, text, or chat to individuals in crisis in Omaha, NE.

In this role you will respond to calls, texts, chats, or emails, deliver short-term counseling, de-escalation, and problem-solving, and connect people with referrals as needed. Full-time or part-time, shifts include 24/7 availability and weekend requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor’s preferred; required for some programs)
• At least 21 years old
• Computer literate, able to take notes while talking to callers

Responsibilities

• Providing short-term counseling, de-escalation, and problem-solving support
• Offering referrals and resources when necessary
• Accurately documenting interactions and maintaining confidentiality

Starting Pay: $17.50–$18.50/hr (plus shift differential if applicable)
Full-Time or Part-Time: Both Available
Shifts: This is a 24/7 hotline so shifts may be available throughout the day.

At least one weekend day is required for all counselors. Some holidays will be required as well (at 2x pay).

Please note: this is NOT a remote position. Our hotline center is located at 144th and Pacific/Dodge in Omaha, NE
