Job summary

Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist for days at the Treatment & Recovery Center in Lawrence, KS. The role is part-time (36 hours/week) and non-exempt with benefits.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe environment during crises, monitoring patients, documenting safety checks, and coordinating care. Required education and a valid driver's license apply, with pre-employment screenings and immunizations noted.

Qualifications

• One year of college coursework or equivalent experience in human services.
• Reliable transportation and valid, unrestricted driver's license.
• Be 21 years or older.
• Prior computer experience and basic computer fluency; willingness to learn new programs; familiarity with MS SharePoint is a plus.
• Pre-employment drug screening, flu immunization, and TB screening required before start.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, stable, supportive environment during patient interactions and crises.
• Conduct 1:1 observation and 15-minute safety checks as required.
• Participate in SAFE clinch training and apply methods during crises.
• Provide services as needed for attendant, psychosocial, and crisis observation.
• Take accurate vital signs and alert medical staff if out of parameter.
• Coordinate care and provide psychoeducation to patients.
• Maintain regular, predictable attendance; perform other duties as assigned.
