Job summary

Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center in Lawrence, Kansas, is hiring a Crisis Therapist for night shifts to assess and manage mental health crises in the community.

You will conduct crisis and risk assessments, provide evidence-based interventions, coordinate care, and work with children, adolescents, and adults. Full-time, non-exempt with benefits.

Qualified candidates have an MSW/related master and Kansas licensure, plus experience in outpatient crisis services and tele-video delivery.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university plus a master's degree from an accredited school of social work, counseling, psychology.
• Minimum of two years experience in a mental health outpatient setting providing screening, crisis/emergency services and diagnoses.
• Licensure from the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board in Kansas.
• Excellent diagnostic, crisis intervention and brief psychotherapy skills.
• Reliable transportation and a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
• Comfortable with tele-video delivery and remote engagement.

Responsibilities

• Provide services for walk-in, in-person crisis referrals and referrals from community partners.
• Conduct crisis assessment interviews including a mental status exam and risk assessment.
• Provide crisis counseling and determine appropriate clinical intake, referral, or community resources.
• Perform Reform Hospital Assessments as required.
• Provide services related to court evaluations and testimony.
• Provide consultation and education activities.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
• May participate in on-site or community crisis services as needed.
