Job summary

Greenwood County is seeking a Part-Time Courthouse Security Officer to enforce safety and law compliance in the courthouse and grounds. You will screen entrants, respond to disturbances, and secure the facility under supervision with routine procedures.

The role requires certification and a year of security experience, with a valid SC driver’s license. Responsibilities include opening/closing duties, vehicle checks, public assistance, and occasional prisoner transport.

Qualifications

• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
• Requires one year of security experience with law enforcement training.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Must be certified (Class I or III) and complete SC Basic Law Enforcement Training.
• Valid SC driver's license and must be 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Screens individuals and packages entering the courthouse with metal detectors.
• Responds to disturbances or requests for law enforcement inside the courthouse and grounds.
• Delivers bank deposits and handles deposit slips and change orders as required.
• Opens the courthouse in the morning, secures it at night.
• Conducts security checks of vehicles and building interiors.
• Provides information and assistance to the public.
• Assists with escorts and transports prisoners or mental health patients as needed.
• Prepares detailed work records, reports, and maintains logs.
