Job summary

The Deputy Sheriff - Courthouse Security performs duties to protect life, limb and property, securing courthouse entrances and Madison County buildings. It involves guarding against illegal entry, operating security checkpoints, verifying badges and inspecting bags, and observing departing public.

Applicants will ONLY be considered for this part-time position if they are already POST certified. Education requirements include a current POST certification in good standing and a high school diploma

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of courthouse operations and admissions.
• Proficient with firearm handling, grip, stance, sighting and loading with safety.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Guard entrances of Courthouse and assigned buildings against illegal access.
• Permits authorized persons to enter.
• Prevent public carrying forbidden articles from entering.
• Procure any prohibited items when required.
• Assist Sheriff's Department under direction of Sheriff.
