Job summary

Pima County is seeking a part-time attorney to oversee the Ajo Justice Court Precinct. The position offers a light caseload, significant autonomy, flexible scheduling, and meaningful work with community members.

It reports to the Pima County Attorney's Office and operates in Ajo, AZ, with court coverage expected about two and a half days per week. Minimum qualifications include a Juris Doctorate and proper licensing.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate; ensure education and experience are documented in the application.

Responsibilities

• Prosecutes or defends criminal or civil cases in Justice, Juvenile, Superior, Federal and Appellate Courts.
• Represents County departments and commissions in civil litigation and administrative matters.
• Engages in negotiations for compromise and settlement; complies with Victims' Rights.
• Engages in pretrial, trial and appellate practice as required by cases.
• Prepares litigation, deposes witnesses, and conducts trials; drafts motions and briefs.
• Researches legal questions and drafts pleadings, briefs and other documents.
• Reviews investigations and complies with professional rules; upholds department/county goals.
