Job summary

The Ventura County Community College District is seeking part-time counselors (Non-Contract/Temporary) to provide comprehensive counseling and advisement to diverse students across district campuses. Instructors may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment.

We maintain a continuous pool for Fall2026, Spring2027, and Summer2027 and consider applicants for vacancies at Oxnard, Moorpark, and Ventura campuses as they arise.

Qualifications

• Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent; OR a valid California Community College Teaching Credential.
• A bachelor's degree in one of the listed degrees and an MFT license is an alternative qualification.
• Equivalent qualifications may be considered via the District's Equivalency process.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive academic, personal and vocational counseling to students; assist in educational planning and survival skills; foster academic success.
• Refer students to support services, monitor progress, and counsel on academic probation.
• Develop plans with students for entering the labor market; identify training and internship opportunities.
• Counsel on career choices, matriculation, and program requirements at other colleges.
• Assist in outreach to recruit eligible students and facilitate enrollment.
• Conduct orientation events about programs, services, and financial aid procedures.
