Job summary

New York Edge is seeking a part-time Cosmetology Specialist to organize, lead, and promote cosmetology activities in our Brooklyn program. The role focuses on hands-on instruction, curriculum adherence, and student engagement after school and in the studio space.

You will teach nail, hair, and beauty courses, supervise students, and support the development of final projects while maintaining a safe, respectful classroom environment and following New York State standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; some college preferred.
• Minimum one year of work-related skill/experience required.
• Minimum one year of teaching experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
• Organize, lead, and promote interest in arts activities such as Cosmetology.
• Organize performance groups and direct their rehearsals.
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons and communicate them to students.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
• Explain techniques and safety procedures to participants and demonstrate use of materials.
