Job summary

CorrHealth in Portales, NM seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to collaborate with a physician to plan and evaluate patient health care, examine illnesses and minor injuries, and support the facility health staff in delivering patient care. This on-site role reports to the Site Medical Director/Physician, Chief Medical Officer, and HSA, with a 24-hour-per-week schedule plus weekly on-call.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted NP or PA license in state of employment.
• Current DEA license.
• One year of clinical experience.
• Correctional/detention facility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer and authorities to manage medical needs at the site.
• Holds daily sick calls, examines patients, and carries out treatments.
• Consults with physician on non-emergency conditions outside protocol.
• Performs orders and coordinates with staff for appropriate care.
• Identifies emergencies and arranges transfer to facilities as needed.
• Admits patients and develops treatment plans with nursing staff.
