Job summary

The Pennington County Sheriff's Office is hiring a part-time Medication Technician to join the Pennington County Jail. This role administers prescribed medications to inmates, ensures accurate documentation, and supports nursing staff in a secure environment.

The successful candidate will have a HS diploma or GED, be at least 18, pass a background check and drug screen, and demonstrate clear English communication. Healthcare experience is a plus in this public service position.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications.
• Preference for healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medication to inmates as required and within licensing.
• Ensure medications are properly stored, ordered, and available for nursing staff.
• Push a medication cart between locations within the Jail.
• Recognize and report urgent medical situations and document actions.
• Maintain accountability and confidential medical records per facility specs.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.
• Follow county policies and procedures and perform related duties as assigned.
