Job summary

Pennington County Sheriff's Office is seeking a full-time Medication Technician to join the jail team. The role focuses on safely administering medications to inmates, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with licensing requirements.

Ideal candidates will have a HS diploma or GED, be at least 18, and able to obtain necessary certifications. A background check and drug screen are required, with preference given to those with healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience Required: HS Diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications
• Preference will be given to those with healthcare experience
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screen

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed treatment and medication to inmate at any Sheriff’s Office facility as needed and medically required within licensing authorization
• Ensure medications are properly stored, ordered, and available for nursing staff
• Push a medication cart between locations within the Jail
• Recognize and report signs and symptoms of a potentially urgent situation
• Maintain accountability and properly document all medication administered to facility specifications
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of medical records
• Attend meetings and trainings as required
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
• Maintain compliance with all county policies and procedures
