Job summary

NaphCare is hiring a Part Time Dental Assistant to join our team at the Pima County Detention Center in Tucson, Arizona. This 10-hour-per-week position runs Mondays from 7:00am to 5:30pm.

As a Correctional Dental Assistant you will support dentists, prepare patients, sterilize instruments, and maintain records in a secure, controlled environment. New grads are encouraged to apply—we will train you in correctional healthcare.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one or two-year dental assistant program at a vocational school or community college.
• Active Dental Assistant certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association).
• Must pass facility background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating dental services and assisting Dentist with patient care, instruments, supplies, documentation and supporting the function of the dental department.
• Assisting Dentist during treatment by providing instruments, materials, retraction or suction.
• Ensuring all dental equipment is properly maintained and the dental suite is clean and well-stocked.
• Sterilizing and disinfecting equipment and tools.
• Assisting in triage, dental sick call requests, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and performing other administrative tasks.
• Explaining dental procedures and oral hygiene practices to patients.
• Taking and developing x-rays, assisting with dental laboratory function.
