Job summary

YSS is seeking a part-time kitchen assistant at Ember Recovery Campus in Cambridge, IA. You will prepare and serve nutritious meals, assist with planning and inventory, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen according to program guidelines.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of relevant cooking/kitchen experience, follow recipes accurately, and work well in a collaborative team. This role supports campus nutrition initiatives and daily kitchen operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in food prep, equipment operation, food storage and record keeping.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately and adapt where needed.
• Clear communication in conversation, instruction and written notes.
• Strong organization and time management.
• Team collaboration and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals meeting standards and guidelines.
• Assist with menu planning, food prep, inventory, and kitchen organization.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen and dining environment.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Support meal production, service and distribution operations.
