Job summary

Indiana University is seeking a Part-Time Cook at IU Dining in Bloomington. The role prepares and serves quality food following recipes and safety standards, supports daily kitchen operations, and maintains clean, organized stations in a fast-paced environment.

The position involves working with a team, following portion sizes, monitoring temperatures, and assisting with ware-washing and sanitation. The role offers hours capped at 29 per week and benefits for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• General knowledge at high school level.
• Some experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, cooking, serving, inventory management, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Prepares and serves food items according to standardized recipes and portion sizes.
• Helps to make sure the station is stocked with supplies for the meal.
• Works with standardized recipes, follows instructions to prepare and serve food for their station.
• Performs ware washing and dishwashing tasks as needed.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations.
• Follows food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations at all times.
• Collaborated with team members to support daily kitchen operations and provide excellent customer service.
• Monitors food temperatures and storage to ensure freshness and safety.
• Works with team leads, sous chefs, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and management to help coordinate and execute the preparation of a wide variety of menu items.
• Maintains a positive, professional, and service-oriented attitude in a fast-paced environment.
• Supports special events, catering functions, and other food service operations as needed.
