Cook (Part-Time) - Columbia Place Assisted Living

Position Summary
Columbia Place Assisted Living is seeking an energetic, positive, and team-oriented Cook who is passionate about serving seniors. This role is responsible for preparing high-quality meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and supporting overall dining services in accordance with health and safety regulations. Candidates must demonstrate our core values of love, excellence, trust, respect, fun, and accountability in every aspect of their work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious and appealing meals, including special diets and pureed foods, following standardized menus and portion control guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and food service area in compliance with all health regulations.
  • Monitor and record food temperatures; ensure presentation of meals is appealing and meets resident satisfaction.
  • Assist in meal service and supervise kitchen staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
  • Participate in staff orientation and ongoing training for dietary personnel.
  • Report resident care concerns or safety issues to the Administrator or Director of Nursing.
  • Maintain proper sanitizer solution levels and adhere to cleaning schedules.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year of cooking experience in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification (must be obtained and maintained).
  • Ability to read and follow recipes, understand technical instructions, and apply basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, pushing/pulling, tasting, smelling, and reaching.
  • Occasional sitting, climbing, kneeling, or crawling.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity to perform kitchen tasks safely and accurately.

Work Environment
  • Low to moderate noise level.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
