Job summary

Vista Senior Living Management is seeking a part-time Cook for weekend shifts in Cannon Falls, MN. The role involves early morning to evening hours, food preparation, and maintaining a clean kitchen. You will work closely with dietary staff to ensure residents receive well‑presented meals.

The ideal candidate has proven cook experience, strong sanitation knowledge, and the stamina to handle a busy kitchen. High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have prior cook experience in a kitchen setting.
• Knowledge of sanitation and food safety best practices.
• Able to work as part of a team and communicate clearly.
• Physically able to stand for long periods and lift moderate loads.
• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with ingredients and equipment.
• Prepare ingredients (wash, chop, peel) for cooking.
• Cook food using various utensils or grills.
• Check food during cooking and stir as needed.
• Ensure appealing presentation before serving.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized kitchen environment.
• Store food and monitor stock, placing orders when needed.
• Check ingredient quality to ensure freshness.

Position: Cook

Shift Available:

• Part-Time, Every Weekend
• Hours: 5:00 AM–7:00 PM, 5:00 AM–2:30 PM, 10:30 AM–7:00 PM

Responsibilities:

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Cook food in various utensils or grillers
• Check food while cooking to stir or turn
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Check quality of ingredients
• Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages

Skills:

• Proven experience as cook
• Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Ability to work in a team
• Very good communication skills
• Excellent physical condition and stamina
• High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
