Who You Are (Ideal Candidate Persona)

You're a student, freelancer, or aspiring content marketer looking to sharpen your skills in a hands-on, startup environment. You've got a strong voice, a good eye for detail, and a knack for turning technical ideas into clear, engaging content.

What You'll Be Doing

• Refresh and improve existing content: app descriptions, service pages, blog posts, help docs, and more.
• Write original blog articles on e-commerce, Shopify tips, and industry trends.
• Create short-form content for social media to drive engagement and brand awareness.
• Collaborate with Shopify store owners to produce tailored blog or marketing copy.
• Be credited as the author on selected blog posts - a great way to build your writing portfolio and online presence.
• Stay on top of what's happening in the e-commerce world and feed that into your work

Hours & Time Commitment

• This is a very part-time role, averaging 1-2 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
• Flexible schedule - work when you're most creative, as long as deadlines are met.
• Occasional team check-ins or Slack messages during Pacific Time business hours.
• Great for students, creatives, or side-hustlers who want to grow into a bigger content role down the line.
• Opportunities for advancement : Show initiative and quality, and you'll be first in line for more hours and larger responsibilities.

Requirements

• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills - you care about clarity, tone, and grammar.
• Experience creating blog posts, social media content, or other online copy.
• Familiarity with content tools (Google Docs, CMS, Notion, etc.).
• Research skills - you can dig into a topic and write about it like you live in that world.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Located near Seattle, WA is a bonus for future in-person creative sessions.

Preferred (but not required)

• Experience with Shopify - ideally, you've used Shopify first-hand either to manage a store, write content for one, or support someone who does. You should be familiar with how the platform works, what store owners care about, and how to speak their language.
• Prior writing experience for e-commerce brands, especially in a marketing or support context.
• Basic knowledge of SEO best practices and how to write with keywords in mind.
• Graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Figma, or Adobe tools) are a bonus, especially for creating visuals to accompany your content.

Salary

$20 - $30 per hour
