Job summary

Missouri State University is seeking part-time Construction Technician I or II to support small campus projects at the Springfield Campus. The role involves multi-trade construction tasks including carpentry, drywall, painting, and finishing, under supervision, with opportunities to grow across trades.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, at least two years in construction, and strong safety awareness. A valid driver’s license is required for off-site tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, vocational/technical training preferred.
• At least two years of construction/renovation experience required.
• Basic knowledge of one or more trades; willingness to learn multiple trades.
• Ability to use common hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Clear communication and good customer service are required.
• Computer literacy is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with framing, drywall, painting, flooring, and general interior modifications.
• Support minor electrical and plumbing modifications as part of projects.
• Assist with installation of doors, hardware, shelving, fixtures, and furnishings.
• Perform patching, surface prep, sanding, and finishing work.
• Gather and organize materials and tools for tasks.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow safety regulations.
