Job summary

Mt. Prospect Park District is seeking a part-time Swim Coach to support the Sharks competitive swim team. The coach assists the Head Swim Coach with daily operations and manages assigned age groups, with season spans from late September to mid‑March.

Requirements include 18+, a High School diploma or GED, and 1–2 years of competitive swimming. Applicants should be able to lift 45+ pounds and perform in both indoor/outdoor pool settings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of competitive swimming experience.
• Swim coaching experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
• Must be able to lift 45+ pounds and work in a pool environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise swimmers during practices, meets and team events.
• Lead daily practices, creating workouts tailored to swimmers’ abilities.
• Coordinate with head coach and volunteers for home meets.
• Assist with setup, operation and cleanup of home meets.
• Maintain safety and enforce pool rules; respond to emergencies.
