Job summary

The 92NY Flying Dolphins Swim Team (YFD), based on Manhattan's Upper East Side, is seeking enthusiastic Lead and Assistant Swim Coaches for the Age Group Program. These part-time, hourly positions come with a May Center Gym Membership, and schedules depend on practices and meets.

Coaches will develop technique, promote sportsmanship, and collaborate with parents, swimmers, and fellow coaches to support athlete growth.

Qualifications

• USA Swimming certification required.
• Coaches Safety Training required.
• CPR & First Aid certification required.
• USA Swimming background check before duties on deck.
• Previous competitive swimming or coaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with children and age-group swimmers.
• Knowledge of swimming fundamentals and stroke techniques.
• Ability to work with swimmers of varying ages and levels.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills.
• Positive, collaborative approach with athletes, parents, and fellow coaches.
• Ability to provide clear instruction and constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

• Teach and reinforce proper swimming technique, including starts, turns, and finishes.
• Assist swimmers to develop skills, confidence, fitness, and competitive abilities.
• Provide positive, constructive, individualized feedback for development.
• Support a team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and respect.
• Collaborate with coaching staff to implement training plans and philosophy.
• Communicate professionally with swimmers, parents, and coaches.
• Attend meets and team events; assist with warm-ups and race prep.
