Job summary

The City of Colton is seeking part-time Community Service Officers to perform non-sworn, non-emergency law enforcement and crime prevention tasks. Duties include reporting, parking enforcement, and assisting with traffic control and public inquiries.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and one year of clerical/administrative/public contact experience. California driver's license and PC832 eligibility are required, with a six-month probationary period.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED required.
• One year of clerical, administrative and/or public contact experience.
• Valid California Class C driver's license with a good driving record.
• Possess or obtain PC832 within one year from date of appointment.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Investigate crimes, traffic incidents, or other events; interview witnesses and victims; prepare written reports.
• Coordinate, schedule and present crime prevention programs and engage with local stakeholders.
• Enter, update and retrieve data in state/federal law enforcement systems.
• Assist officers with non-emergency duties and courtroom appearances as needed.
• Maintain and transport property and evidence; provide information to motorists and the public.
