Job summary

The City of Raleigh seeks a part-time Planner to join the Planning and Development department. This role supports the long-range planning team on Raleigh’s Next Comprehensive Plan, a key project shaping the city’s growth over the next 25 years.

The ideal candidate is organized, self-directed, with strong communication skills, and enjoys collaborating with staff and residents to translate input into policy. Evening/weekend meetings may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Planning, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field and 1 year of planning experience in an area relevant to the department to which assigned OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
• Strong communication, organization, and self-direction; ability to work with residents and staff.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and ArcGIS for data analysis and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating logistics for a range of public engagement events
• Providing communications and administrative support for a staff advisory group
• Working with communications staff to develop promotional materials
• Collaborating with other team members to synthesize and integrate public input into policy
