Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a part-time Community Meals Assistant to serve and deliver meals to seniors and homebound individuals in the local community. The role requires driving, involves coordinating with volunteers, and hosting meal events to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Mileage reimbursement is provided, and the schedule is weekdays from 10am to 1pm with no weekends. Experience with basic computer applications is preferred, and a valid driver's license is required to

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow verbal instructions.
• 6 months to 1 year of group leadership or host/hostess experience with older adults or in food service.
• Must be willing to build strong relationships with community organizations.
• Creativity and knowledge of public relations to project a positive image of the agency.
• Outgoing, well organized, and able to work with volunteers and community partners.
• Experience with basic computer applications is preferred; training is available.

Responsibilities

• Serve community dining from bulk to seniors and deliver home-delivered meals.
• Package home-delivered meals for delivery and act as first point of contact for customer relations.
• Engage with diners and volunteers to promote a welcoming atmosphere and assist in planning meal events.
• Drive to assignments; mileage reimbursement is provided for work-related travel.
• Coordinate with volunteers and track meal counts and records.
• Support partners and agencies to expand services and improve program effectiveness.
