Job summary

Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge in Alexandria, MN is hiring a part-time kitchen helper to support food service operations. The role focuses on food storage, preparation, and serving clients, with emphasis on safety, quality, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Able to pass background check process.
• Experience preparing meals in an institutional setting preferred.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 40 pounds.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to pass food safety certification course.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and assist in storage of food items (ordered or donated).
• Assist with food pickup as needed.
• Assist in cleanup after meals and maintain logs (daily/weekly/monthly).
• Conduct kitchen cleanup inspections and address non-compliance with the Food Services Manager.
• Maintain personal cleanliness and operate a hygienic kitchen.
• Prepare food and supervise cooks/kitchen helpers to follow recipes and quality standards.
• Prepare and cook food ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards.
• Serve food and direct Client workers in serving meals.
• Inventory supplies at end of day or designated period.
• Keep records to manage food services (meat inventory, refrigeration temps, detergents, cleanup).
• Adhere to organizational code of conduct and state food handling procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
