Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota in Spring Valley, MN invites applications for a part-time In-Home Direct Support Professional to provide support to a 14-year-old participant. Work is community-based, about 20 hours per week, with activities age-appropriate.

You will build relationships, help the youth increase independence, maintain records, attend meetings, and follow regulations. A valid driver's license and background check are required; CPR/First Aid is preferred.

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and a Motor Vehicle Check.
• Background check clearance is required.
• Successful completion of medication administration training.
• Computer and math skills.
• Ability to read, write, problem-solve, and follow directions.
• Good decision-making and ability to respond to emergencies.
• Ability to recognize boundaries, patience, self-control, and flexibility.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (may be obtained after hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, encouragement, support, and safety through relationship building.
• Support in homes or community settings and assist with individual plans.
• Develop essential living skills to increase independence.
• Maintain documentation and participate in meetings/trainings per regulations.
• Advocate for the participant as part of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota staff.
