Job summary

The Salvation Army Jasper/Newton County corps in Joplin, Missouri, seeks a Community Center Program Aide to assist in the municipal community center. This part-time role is 25 hours per week with a starting wage of $15.50 per hour.

You will oversee volunteers and visitors, help with kitchen operations, coordinate activities, and support events. A valid driver's license and ARC CPR/First Aid certification are preferred; prior center work and strong communication are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in a community center environment preferred.
• Good communication skills with ability to read and write.
• Ability to relate to youth, children, and unhoused persons.
• Valid driver's license and passing TSA MVR is a plus.
• ARC CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee volunteers and visitors during activities in the community center.
• Enforce rules as necessary.
• Assist in kitchen operations, including processing grocery donations and meal service.
• Assist in leagues, rentals, and other recreational opportunities.
• Mediate disputes among participants with sensitivity to all parties.
• Set up and take down work and play areas before and after activities.
• Assist in planning community center special events.
• Assist in custodial upkeep throughout the community center.
• Train volunteers and visitors in the care and use of equipment and facilities.
• Maintain and organize all gymnasium supplies and equipment.
• Employees are expected to perform other related duties as assigned.
