The Penn State College of Medicine Core Coagulation Reference Laboratory in Hershey, PA is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technologist to perform advanced coagulation and translational assays for patients with bleeding disorders. You will work with clinicians and researchers to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant testing.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, certification within 18 months, and experience with high‑complexity procedures in a CLIA/CAP environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, biology, or related field.
• Certification within 18 months of hire (ASCP, AMT, ACHI, or equivalent).
• Experience with high complexity laboratory procedures.
• Familiarity with CLIA and CAP regulatory environments.
• Knowledge of coagulation biology, hematologic disorders, or clinical lab operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized coagulation and hematology assays related to inherited and acquired bleeding and thrombotic disorders.
• Ensure proper specimen handling, processing, storage, and documentation in accordance with laboratory protocols.
• Collect, interpret, and report experimental and clinical data; identify technical issues and troubleshoot assay performance.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, electronic data files, and test documentation in compliance with CLIA, CAP, and institutional policies.
• Participate in quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing activities.
• Adhere strictly to biosafety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
• Support translational and clinical research projects focused on bleeding disorders.
• Participate in laboratory meetings, continuing education, and professional development activities.
• Contribute to maintaining an efficient and organized laboratory environment.
