Job summary

SUNY Sullivan invites applications for a part-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor. The selected candidate will deliver the NYS-approved CNA curriculum (130 hours) including classroom, lab, and clinical components, on campus or approved sites in Sullivan County, with classes meeting 9 AM–1 PM or 5 PM–9 PM.

The instructor will mentor students, assess progress, and prepare them to sit the NYSED exam to become certified CNAs.

Qualifications

• Current New York State Professional Nurse Registration.
• Two years of experience caring for the elderly and/or chronically ill.
• Evidence of certification to teach Nurse Aide or Practical Nursing OR two years of experience teaching nurse aides in a residential health care facility OR three years of experience teaching nursing or nursing-related programs to adults in an academic setting approved by the Commissioner of Education OR completion of the State-approved "Train the Trainer" program.

Responsibilities

• Teach the CNA curriculum as approved by NYSED.
• Teach the classroom, lab, and clinical components of the program.
• Provide instruction, assessment, and mentoring to students.
• Prepare students to take the NYSED exam.
• Provide remediation to students if needed before and after the exam if students need to retake the certification exam.
• Performs other duties as requested by the Director of Nursing Programs.
