Job summary

Johnston Community School District is seeking a Building Associate (part time) at HORIZON in Johnston, Iowa. Starting date is immediate, with hours from 11:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The role involves assisting in supervision of students, materials preparation, and supporting classroom activities under teacher direction. Requires a high school diploma or GED and strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to relate to all children regardless of needs and/or abilities.
• Possess collaborative and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists in supervision of students in classroom and other areas of the school facility (bus arrival/dismissal, lunch/recess, field trips).
• Assists staff in preparation of materials (reproducing materials, correcting papers, preparing bulletin boards).
• Works with groups or individual students under teacher’s direction, assists with classroom management and student work.
• Maintains records for individual students and communicates relevant matters to building administrators.
