Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a part-time Teacher Assistant for the Home School location within the Teaching & Learning department for a 9-month term. The role supports the classroom teacher and helps maintain an effective learning environment.

You will assist with small-group instruction, student records, and basic clerical tasks while ensuring safety, punctuality, and confidentiality in daily school operations.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• WorkKeys assessment (Applied Math, Workplace Documents, Business Writing) or 2 years of college/Associate's Degree.
• Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
• Board may accept alternatives.

Responsibilities

• Report for duty at least 15 minutes before the opening of school and remain at least 10 minutes after close of school.
• Plan regularly with the assigned teacher.
• Work with small groups to reinforce materials.
• Guide independent or remedial work as set by the teacher.
• Assist in student testing activities as assigned.
• Keep charts and records of students' performances.
• Prepare materials for a positive learning environment.
• Perform clerical tasks including inventory, filing, typing, and operate audiovisual equipment.
• Assist teachers with basic physical needs of students.
• Be regular and punctual in attendance.
• Maintain confidentiality of school-related information.
• Follow Board of Education policies.
• Attend other duties as assigned by the principal.

Education
