Job summary

The City Colleges of Chicago's Harold Washington College seeks a part-time Teacher Assistant to support instructors in classroom, lab, and shop settings in Chicago.

Responsibilities include supervising students, assisting with lesson plans and project objectives, preparing and managing equipment and supplies, and maintaining attendance records while upholding CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent credit hours in related field of study from an accredited college or university; or a Certificate in the related field with related experience.
• Work experience in a teaching environment preferred.
• Ability to promote cooperation between students and educational personnel.

Responsibilities

• Assists instructor in supervising students in classroom, lab, or shop areas to ensure class rules and safety procedures are followed.
• Assists students in understanding lesson plans and objectives; provides effective feedback.
• Prepares, maintains, distributes and collects equipment and supplies; supervises cleaning and trash removal.
• Works with instructor to create an orderly, supportive learning environment.
• Informs the instructor of problems promptly.
• Maintains attendance and other required records.
• Participates in staff meetings and planning sessions; adheres to CCC policies.
