Job summary

The City Colleges of Chicago's Harold Washington College seeks a part-time Teacher Assistant to support instructors in classroom, lab, and shop settings in Chicago.

Responsibilities include supervising students, assisting with lesson plans and project objectives, preparing and managing equipment and supplies, and maintaining attendance records while upholding CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent credit hours in related field of study from an accredited college or university; or a Certificate in the related field with related experience.
• Work experience in a teaching environment preferred.
• Ability to promote cooperation between students and educational personnel.

Primary Objective:

Assists instructor in strengtheningconcepts presented in the classroom, laboratory or trade shoparea.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists instructor in supervising students inclassroom/laboratory/trade shop area to ensure students arefollowing class rules and safety procedures.
2. Assists students in understanding the lesson plans and projectobjectives. Provides effective feedback to students.
3. Prepares, maintains, distributes and collects equipment andother supply materials required to meet lesson objectives.Supervises the cleaning and trash removal from training/shoparea.
4. Works with the instructor to create a purposeful, orderly, andsupportive learning environment.
5. Informs the instructor of any problems promptly.
6. Maintains student’s attendance records and other records asrequired.
7. Participates in weekly staff meetings, classroom team planningsessions and other meetings as scheduled.
8. Adheres to policies and procedures established by theinstructor.
9. Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Associate's degree or equivalent credit hours in related fieldof study from an accredited college or university; or a Certificatein the related field of study with years of relatedexperience.
2. Work experience in a teaching environment preferred.
3. Ability to promote cooperation between students and educationalpersonnel.
4. Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions and toprovide proper assistance to the instructor.
5. Ability to multitask and adapt to new tasks with littlenotice.

Salary Range: $17.48 - $24.59/hr.

Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience,knowledge, skills and abilities.
