Job summary

Ventura County Community College District is accepting applications on an on-going basis for future consideration for part-time instructors in this discipline at Oxnard, Moorpark, and Ventura colleges. Applications will be kept on file for Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 semesters and may be considered if vacancies arise.

Under general direction, instructors provide classroom instruction to diverse student populations, with appointments up to 67% of a full-time assignment as needed.

Qualifications

• Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors.
• Education requirements as listed above.
• All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.
• Foreign transcripts information provided for evaluation if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities and higher order thinking through assignments and activities.
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study and support services and refer to resources as appropriate.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on inquiries.
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and learning outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, progress, and outcomes; submit data and reports on time.
• Select instructional materials in collaboration with discipline faculty; order materials as needed.

Education

Master’s in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/ family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology

Bachelor’s in related field AND Master’s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies

Possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential

Equivalency (Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency)

All coursework from a recognized accredited college or university
