Job summary

The Learning Lamp is hiring part-time staff for its GJCTC Child Care Center in Johnstown, PA. Open hours are 6 a.m.–6 p.m. weekdays; part-time roles offer flexible scheduling within this window.

Pay starts at $12.00+ per hour based on experience, with opportunities for training and advancement in leadership, administration, and operations. We provide a collaborative environment, training opportunities, and apprenticeships.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Early Childhood Education certification is a plus.
• Experience with children; volunteer or teaching background encouraged.
• Willingness to pass required clearances and training (mandated reporter, physical, TB test).
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• CPR and first aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise indoor and outdoor activities and ensure child safety.
• Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and daily care.
• Follow daily schedules and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Plan educational games, crafts and developmental activities.
• Communicate with parents about daily progress.
• Maintain cleanliness and health standards.
• Document milestones and concerns.
