Job summary

Alvin College is seeking a part-time instructor to join the Continuing Education Workforce Development (CEWD) team. The pool supports available assignments during the academic year, with a maximum of 19 hours per week. Selection and interviews are conducted as opportunities arise, via phone or email.

Flexibility in schedule may be required to meet program needs, including days, evenings, and weekends. International credential evaluations may be required for non-U.S. credentials.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field.
• Education and qualifications must meet institutional, regulatory, industry, and accrediting requirements for the courses being taught.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver instruction on chemical handling, storage, labeling, transportation, and disposal.
• Teach students to identify chemical hazards, read SDS, labels, and hazard info.
• Provide instruction on proper use, inspection, and maintenance of PPE.
• Teach safe procedures for chemical storage, segregation, transfer, spill prevention, and emergency response.
• Incorporate demonstrations, simulations, lab activities, and workplace scenarios to reinforce safe chemical practices.
• Educate students on HazCom, GHS requirements, and other safety practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
