Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory seeks a Chaplain for Haven of Hope Community Center. The role provides emotional, social, and spiritual services, planning devotional times and Bible studies while coordinating with staff to engage participants.

Hours are part-time, evenings and weekends required, with reporting to the Community Center Director. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 3 years in ministry, and a PA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in a ministry position (paid or volunteer).
• Comfortable engaging and evangelizing with the community.
• Comfortable initiating and building relationships.
• Ability to reflect credit on The Salvation Army and leadership.
• Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.
• Valid PA Driver’s License and qualification for The Salvation Army’s insurance.
• Completion of mandated reporter training within 30 days of employment, with training every five years.
• Meet child protection clearances required by PA Act 153.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Haven of Hope staff to provide emotional, social, and spiritual services; plan and deliver pastoral care and devotional times.
• Conduct spiritual programming such as Bible studies and prayer meetings.
• Engage program participants during outreach events and collect attendance statistics.
• Collaborate with leadership to assess religious concerns and assist with seasonal community support.
