Job summary

City of Concord is seeking a dedicated instructor to lead ceramic and pottery programs for participants of all ages and abilities. The role emphasizes wheel-throwing, hand-building, glazing, safety workflows, and clear communication of clay preparation and firing steps.

You will manage studio resources, assist with registrations and customer care, and help market programs through flyers and social media while adapting offerings to community needs and accessibility considerations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of activity planning principles and practices
• CPR/First aid knowledge or certification
• Familiarity with applicable laws and regulations
• Ceramic equipment operations and programming
• Philosophy and objectives of public recreation and community health

Responsibilities

• Lead and instruct participants in wheel-throwing, hand building, and glazing techniques.
• Explain clay preparation steps, firing formats, and safety workflows to varied skill levels.
• Assist tracking and inventory of ceramics supplies and manage kiln room resources.
• Support pottery programming, adapting workshops based on community feedback.
• Provide excellent customer care by answering clay-related questions and aiding registrations.
• Create and share engaging marketing materials (flyers, social posts).
• Communicate class lengths, formats, and adaptations to participants; modify programs for accessibility.
• Prepare classrooms and maintain studio cleanliness; report damages to supervisor.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and safety incidents.
• Plan and facilitate special events and field trips with Parks & Recreation vehicles.
• Follow City of Concord and Parks & Recreation policies.
