Job summary

Brunswick Community College Southport Annex is seeking a motivated pottery instructor to teach students of all ages. The role includes maintaining the studio, loading/unloading kilns, and guiding an average of 10 participants per session with enthusiasm and attention to detail.

You will create lesson plans, recruit students, provide project-based instruction, and give regular feedback while coordinating with college administration and fellow staff to keep equipment and supplies in good order.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Working knowledge of pottery equipment, glazes, clays, stains, etc.
• Experience teaching adults.
• Current knowledge of studio safety.
• Ability to lead class and resolve pottery-making issues.

Responsibilities

• Contacts students re: supplies, weather, etc.
• Evaluates and documents student performance using established methods, rubrics and criteria
• Submits accurate time sheets, rosters, attendance records

• Monitors the proper use of equipment
• Checks equipment for needed repair
• Email communication with students and college administration

Job description

Teaches pottery to students of all ages at the Brunswick Community College Southport Annex. Instructor should be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and be detail oriented. Work involves maintaining the pottery studio (loading and unloading kilns, maintaining glazes, etc.) as related to your class usage in addition to instructing an average of 10 participants per session. Must work well with others in shared studios.
