Job summary

York City School District is hiring a part-time Cafeteria Security Monitor for 4.0 hours per day. The successful candidate will help organize students during meal periods, assist younger students, and ensure proper dining etiquette. A high school diploma is required along with certifications in First Aid and CPR, as well as necessary clearances.

The role includes monitoring student behavior, resolving minor conflicts, and maintaining a clean dining environment. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Ability to interact with students and staff respectfully.
• Must have First Aid and CPR training.
• Must have Act 34 Clearance, Act 151 Clearance, and FBI Clearance (self-paid).
• Must pass Drug Screening (self-paid).
• Must hold Act 126 & Act 71 Training Certificates.

Responsibilities

• Organize students for food purchasing and assigned seating.
• Help students with dining etiquette and nutrition.
• Assist younger students with utensils.
• Manage disposal of food waste and utensils.
• Help with orderly dismissal from the lunchroom.
• Circulate during meals to assist students and resolve issues.
• Report serious infractions to teachers immediately.
• Assist with cleanliness as required.
• Call for help in case of serious incidents and disruptions.
• Record student attendance when necessary.

Experience and Qualifications

• Ability to interact with students and staff in a manner that demonstrates respect and dignity.
• Must be a high school graduate.
• First Aid and CPR Training.
• Must have the ability to effectively solve problems in a professional manner.
• Deescalating students.
• Resolving minor conflicts.
• Act 34 Clearance, Act 151 Clearance, FBI Clearance (self‑paid).
• Drug Screening (self‑paid).
• Act 126 & Act 71 Training Certificates.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Organizes students into orderly lines for purchasing food and sees that they go to assigned tables.
• Helps students develop and observe proper dining habits, both in terms of etiquette and nutrition.
• Assists younger students with use of utensils when needed.
• Organizes students for orderly disposal of food waste, trays and utensils.
• Organizes groups for orderly dismissal from the lunchroom.
• Circulates among the tables during the meal period so as to be available to help children who need help and to resolve any minor problems that arise.
• Informs any attending teacher at once of any serious infraction of disciplinary rules by students.
• Help clean tables when part of school procedure.
• Calls immediately for the Principal/designee in the event of any argument involving more than two students; any incident involving physical confrontation; and any incident that appears to be of more than momentary disruption.
• Enter student attendance in the computer in the absence of the school/café aide.
• All other duties assigned by supervisor.
