Job summary

York City School District is seeking a Part-Time Cafeteria Assistant to support daily food service operations on site. The role involves food preparation, equipment operation, and serving meals to students and staff.

The position requires adherence to food safety guidelines and a willingness to assist with daily cleaning tasks. Ideal candidates will be able to stand for extended periods, lift, and operate kitchen equipment; Act34, Act151 and FBI clearances are required (self-paid).

Qualifications

• Must be able to interact professionally with students, staff and the public.
• Performs physical tasks including standing for long periods, lifting and operating kitchen equipment.
• Clearances required: Act34, Act151, FBI clearance (self‑paid).
• Drug screening (self‑paid) is required.
• Submit a Letter of Interest, Resume and Application on the District website.

Responsibilities

• Uses recipes to prepare food for service.
• Operates kitchen equipment such as slicer, grinder, mixer, can opener, dishwasher, stove, oven, steam table, POS system, kettle, grill and other items as needed.
• Service meals using approved utensils and ensure correct portion sizes and procedures are followed.
• Follow all food safety guidelines: handwashing, gloves, time-stamping, FIFO rotation.
• Maintain a clean workspace and keep tables and equipment free of debris through the shift.
• Assist in daily cleaning of the facility including worktables, dishes, pots, pans, equipment and smallwares.
• Clear cafeteria tables and chairs between meal periods and at day end.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support food service operations.
