Job summary

Middlesex County Public Schools in Saluda, Virginia is seeking a part-time Bus Shop Helper to support the transportation department. Under general supervision, you will help keep the bus garage safe, clean, and organized while assisting with basic vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities include basic fluid checks, tire pressure, cleaning buses, handling inventory, logging work orders, and safely moving buses between bays. Training will be provided; prior experience not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• CDL Class B with School Bus and Passenger endorsements preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic fluid checks and top-offs (oil, coolant, windshield washer fluid, DEF).
• Clean, wash, and detail buses and support vehicles; sanitize interiors.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free shop; organize tool rooms and log tasks.
• Receive parts deliveries; log items into inventory; drive division vehicle when needed.
• Move buses between bays and to local shops; document completed maintenance.
