Job summary

The YMCA of South Alabama is seeking a part-time Bus Driver to safely transport participants to and from YMCA programs, schools, and community locations in Daphne, AL. The role emphasizes punctuality, safety, and upholding YMCA values.

Responsibilities include pre-trip and post-trip inspections, accurate logs, and effective communication with staff. Candidates must meet licensing, background, and health/safety certification requirements and possess a valid CDL if applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required if applicable to vehicle type.
• Previous professional driving experience preferred.
• Ability to pass background checks, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening per ALDOT.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe).

Responsibilities

• Safely operate YMCA vehicles in compliance with all state and local traffic laws.
• Transport program participants to and from designated locations according to assigned schedules.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Ensure proper supervision and safe behavior of passengers during transport.
• Maintain accurate attendance, mileage, and trip logs as required.
• Communicate effectively with YMCA staff regarding schedules, delays, or concerns.
• Follow YMCA policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderly condition of the vehicle.
• Provide courteous, professional interactions with participants, families, staff, and community partners.
